In South Africa George became National Champion in the 100 & 200 M Butterfly.
With over 34 years of swimming, teaching and coaching experience, George was given the title of South African National Coach and President of South African Teachers and Coaches Association.
Since living in Canada George has dedicated himself to providing excellent swimming instruction, offering small classes, warm water and an inviting, happy and friendly atmosphere. He opened up the swim school in 1989 and has taught thousands of children over the past 19 years.
He is also President and Head Coach of Vaughan Aquatic Club, which is a competitive swim team, affiliated with Swim Ontario and Swimming Canada. After receiving a very good grounding at George Jacobson Swim School, hundreds of swimmers have gone on to become top competitive swimmers.
George is still involved competitively as a swimmer
in Canadian Masters swimming. He has held Canadian
records in 50, 100 & 200 M Butterfly and has been
ranked as high as fourth in the world.
George has an unbelievable ability to instill
confidence into young children and has them
swimming on their own very quickly. George
has a very kind yet tough approach to teaching.
He believes young children cannot be given a
choice when it comes to learning to swim as
their lives may depend on their ability to swim.
George is very proud of his three grown up children who have all swum competitively at a high level and all have taught at the swim school over the years. George’s wife Joan also plays a large role and is in charge of administration, registration and scheduling at the George Jacobson Swim School.
